If you’re wondering what a jitney is, it is a “fixed rate, fixed route, circulator with seating for more than 9 & less than 15 passengers”. We are a hybrid between a taxi, a limo, and a public bus. A taxi b/c we can do some door to door service and you can call to get a pick-up. A limo b/c our vehicles have upgraded stereo, televisions, lights, seating, and other luxuries. A public bus b/c anyone can get on board.
We also offer private rental service with a concierge service as requested. Our team of drivers, dispatchers, and event coordinators know what is going on in this great city and can help you in coordinating your visit. We have lists of businesses, must see, restaurants, game calendars, etc. on board to help in your planning as well.

HISTORY OF THE WAVE
The Wave was started in November 2009 by a native Houstonian who saw a need. We were the first jitney in Houston in 15 years (as of 2009) and the only permitted service with a fleet of vehicles. It was not long after launching until demand was for more than our one bus. By June 2010, we had a fleet of 6 vehicles.
WHAT EXACTLY IS A JITNEY
The Wave, is a jitney, shared shuttle service, that travels primarily inside Loop 610 as well as most special event venues in Houston. All buses are permitted by the city and fall under the “jitney” ordinance.
The Wave is a safer, more convenient and more efficient alternative to driving from place to place and it makes it easy to explore Houston. The City supports us and did the honors of doing our ribbon cutting in November 2009. We are here to make sure the Washington Corridor, Midtown, The Heights, River Oaks, Rice Village, Downtown, East Downtown, Upper Kirby/Shepherd, Uptown Park/ Galleria, Montrose and other similar areas remain viable places to live, work, shop, eat, and play for now and for many years to come. No more excuses about parking being a pain or expensive. No more complaining about traffic. The Wave is here to solve all that and make your outings in Houston more fun, safer, and more cost effective. For the visitors to the great City of Houston, we make ease of movement something they do not have to worry about.
